About

Our School:

Scoil Náisiúnta Muire agus Iósef, Sóisear (Bayside Junior School) is a Catholic co-educational primary school under the patronage of Archbishop Diarmuid Martin, Archbishop of Dublin. We are located on Verbena Avenue, Sutton, Dublin 13, in the Parish of the Resurrection, Bayside.

Our school first opened on 11th September 1972 with three teachers and 75 pupils. The school was based in pre-fabs at the top of Verbena Avenue. The staff consisted of the Principal, Pamela Ó Síoráin, with Anne Dunne and Maura O’Connor. The present school building was opened in 1976.

Today we have 21 teachers – 16 class teachers, 5 support teachers and the Principal – with an enrolment of 447 pupils.

We are very fortunate to have the invaluable support of our caretakers, cleaning staff, housekeeper, secretaries, and Special Needs Assistants (SNAs).

Our school caters for boys and girls from Junior Infants to Second Class.

The school uniform was requested by parents. The colours chosen were red shirt/blouse and grey pinafore/trousers. Its purpose is to give some sense of unity and  to help in the development of school pride.

Our school operates on a co-operative teaching model. We have 16 classrooms, with a shared Activity Area for each two class bases, a computer room, resource rooms and a very large P.E. hall.
