PABS Newsletter Christmas 2013

PABS         Newsletter Winter 2013

Parents Association Bayside Schools

Hello again to all the staff, parents and pupils of Bayside Schools!  It’s hard to believe Winter is already here, and with everyone so busy getting organised for Christmas the Parents Association would like to update you all on activities and events currently being run by the association – dedicated to working with the principals, staff and boards of management to build effective partnership between the home and school.

New PABS Committee

The Committee were delighted to welcome so many new members this

year.  At our first meeting in October it was decided by all present to change

the constitution of the committee to 25 members to reflect the enthusiasm of

the new members.  The following members were elected to hold positions:

Chair & Vice                             Amanda O’Connell/ Bridgette Keane

Treasurer                                Jean Lyons / Elisa Nishimura

Secretary                                 Teresa Murray

NPC Representatives          Bridgette Keane / Peter Knief

A full list of all other committee members is available in the school porch.

The committee would like to thank all the hard work and efforts made by

outgoing members of the group, in particular Carmel Cunningham and Bernadette Dowling, Pauline Carroll and Sylvia Day.

Remember this is your committee – PABS are always looking for new

volunteers and helpers. If you can give any time please contact one of the

members above (contact details in school porches)!

 Brennan’s Insurance Scheme

The Brennan’s Insurance scheme was facilitated through PABS again this year.  Details of the group scheme number and contact details for Brennan’s are available in both school porches.

Car Chaos at Bayside Schools

Please could all parents ensure they are using the one-way traffic system as designed by the schools.  This is displayed in the school porches. Also, parking on corners / in front of residents driveways is causing major safety problems at the school.  Please show consideration for the safety and welfare of all our children when driving / parking in the area of the school.

We were delighted that Santa took time out of his hectic schedule again this year to visit the very special children in Bayside Schools (6th Dec.).  This was a great day for the children, everyone in both schools really enjoyed the event.

The Book Fair

The annual book fair took place this year on the 6th December (same day as Santa’s visit!).  This was a huge success again this year, and was a great place to purchase last minute Christmas presents.  Thanks to all parents who gave up their time to help at the event.

 Coin Collection

Please don’t forget our Loose Change Collection on the last Friday of every month.  All donations – no matter how small – are very much appreciated.  Only euro coinage can be accepted – there is no facility available to us to convert non-euro coins.  Remember every cent counts and all donations go directly to the school.

       PABS Comedy Night

A great night was had by all in Naomh Barróg GAA Club on the 8th Nov. where over €1,137.00 profit was raised for the schools.  Many thanks to Derville & members of the committee and all who helped organise and run the event so well, and to all the parents who supported the event and donated prizes .

Liberty Recycling Day

Thanks to all who participated in our recycling day 8th Nov we received 175 bags which raised €700 for the schools. We hope to run this again in 2014.

All the members of the Parents Association would like to wish teachers, parents, pupils and all the wider school community a peaceful, happy Christmas and good wishes for 2014.

Remember PABS is your association, if you would like to contact us about anything please leave a message in the PABS box in the school porches, or contact a member of the Committee.

Christmas Newsletter

Dear Parents/Guardians,

How quickly the year has flown! As the Christmas season draws near, we wish to extend our best wishes to you and your families for a very happy and holy Christmas.

Once again we have had a very busy and interesting term.  We were delighted to welcome all our new pupils and enjoyed seeing them settle into the daily routines of school life.

Our new e-mailing and texting service is now in place and teething problems have been solved.

All enjoyed our sponsored nature walk in October and thanks to your wonderful generosity the sum of over €7,000 was raised.

The Children from 1st and 2nd classes had a most enjoyable visit to Music in the Classroom, in the National Concert Hall.

December has been a busy month :-

  • PABS – book fair   (book found “The Cat in the Hat Comes Back” call to office.)
  • Santa paid a very welcome visit
  • Everyone had great fun at the performance of Beauty and the Beast.
  • Our Crib Building Service takes place on Thursday 20th.

(due to availability of space we regret we can only accommodate the parents of our Junior Infant classes)

If you have any holly or ivy in your garden we would be delighted if you could drop in some to us on Wednesday or Thursday to enhance our decorations.

We thank you for your continued generosity and support during the year and would like to remind you that gifts for teachers are appreciated but not expected.

The school will close at 12 o’clock this Friday and re-open on Monday, January 6th.

We will be having a prayer service in the Hall on that day to commemorate the Feast of the Epiphany

May I take this opportunity to wish you and your families a very Happy New Year.

Yours sincerely,
