The children in Rooms 5 and 6 dressed up as some of their favourite characters from books they have read. You just might spot Horrid Henry, Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz, Pippi Longstocking or Harry Potter in the pictures below! There’s also a Wally from Where’s Wally hiding!
We have been working as researchers in class using the laptops. We found out lots of interesting information about life in the sea and other topics which were chosen by us. Anna found out the real name of The Girl with the Pearl Earring and Sarah found out who invented the telephone. We are now able to use the internet for research!
The children in Ms Gahan and Ms Bohan’s classes have gone penguin crazy! We have been learning all about penguins for the last few weeks. We worked really hard on our projects. Friday, November 14th was our penguin day. We even had a real penguin come to visit our class. Can you spot him in the pictures?
We had a big project day on Friday the 22nd of February. We have been working on our projects for weeks now. There are five project groups and we each found out about a different country. Andraya’s Dad is from The Philippines so her group decided to learn more about this very interesting place. Andraya brought in a special cake that is eaten in The Philippines. We all had some and it was delicious! Thank you, Andraya! Jamie’s Dad’s family come from Portugal so his group decided to learn all about it. They made a lovely Portugal display. We also did projects on The USA, Africa and New Zealand. Some people wrote to the embassies of the countries they were learning about. We really enjoyed learning about different places and are already making our travel plans for when we are older!
This year is very special for us as we are making our First Holy Communion. We did a project on Communion when our grandparents and parents were our age. We brought in photographs. It was very interesting to hear stories of what Communion was like when the adults in our families were small and lovely to see what they wore.
We may look like ordinary seven and eight year olds but we have a secret….we have superpowers! We wrote all about these powers and revealed our secret identities.
We made penguins from recycled plastic bottles. Some are stuffed with cotton wool, others have paint inside the bottle for the penguin’s white body. We had a great time making these penguins! Can you spot the baby penguin?
Look at our owls!
We have been learning about gorillas. We did projects on the gorilla in groups. We really enjoyed doing these projects.
We have been learning about 2-D shapes and decided to make some 2-D shape monsters. We had lots of fun creating our monsters. Some are friendly and some a little scary!
We wrote flower acrostics. We brainstormed some ideas first and then we wrote our poems.
