Busy bees hard at play.
Future engineers hard at work.
Spring has arrived and the Junior Infants have been busy using their green fingers.
Junior Infants are well on their way to becoming fantastic readers. They have been working really hard at blending sounds to make words. They are now so good at reading that they beat their teacher in the decoding competition every single day.
The Sam Maguire Cup came to visit the boys and girls in Bayside recently.James McCarthy brought the cup and the children had the opportunity to ask him lots of questions about what it takes to become a Dublin footballer. A lot of boys and girls went home inspired that afternoon.
It was a really exciting day and we all dressed in blue for the occasion.
On Tuesday the 20th of October all of the pupils in our school went on a nature walk. The Junior Infants had a fantastic time. Ms. Burke from the Green School Commitee gave us all Hi Vis vests so that cars could see us. We wear them when we walk to and from school now.
On our walk we spotted lots of signs of Autumn. We collected leaves, helicopters and conkers. We also saw lots of animals. We even found a fairy door.
We all want to thank our parents and relatives for their sponsorship money.
We were delighted to return to school in September to find our vegetable patch full of courgettes and pumpkins.
We all got a lovely surprise on Monday morning when we returned to find our school garden in full bloom! Now that the weather is getting warmer we have all had an opportunity to get out to the courtyard to admire the beautiful flowers. We even spotted our resident frogs and their frog spawn. We try to be very quiet when we are in the courtyard as we don’t want to frighten our frogs.
The boys and girls in 2nd class have been selected by Innocent Smoothies Sow and Grow Project to develop their green fingers. We were delighted on Monday when a box full of goodies arrived at our classroom door. As part of the project we have been asked to plant cress, courgette and pumpkin seeds. In addition to this we will be reporting our gardening progress on our blog. You can read our blog at https://sowandgrow.innocentdrinks.ie/diaries/. We hope you enjoy.
